Update 3-7-2005

I went to word pro this a.m to pick up the Maul computer, the Jefferson boys computer will not be ready until tommorrow. I will leave a message for Tonya so she can see to it that they get their computer this evening. I also checked the lab out to make sure the internet is working as well as ran ad-aware on all computers.

Williams computer and CIN

The Williams boys' computer is on your chair.  They are unable to connect with their CIN accounts.    I went to their house and verified.  Please do all that is needed: check the modem and the accounts to be certain they work.  Also, their mouse skips, so please clean or replace.  I need to know  via your comments here what the status is on Tuesday.

Liz' computer etc

1.  the black computer in the lab needs a new kybd.  i gave the other one away for home use.

2.  Liz R will be bringing her CPU in on Thursday.  please troubleshoot.. they have only had it for 2 days and it is blue screening.  Also check CIN acct to be sure all is okay.  She will leave computer by my desk.  Do this Thursday if you can and then call her to tell her it is fixed.

3.  Also, for Liz, please find a printer with a cable.  Test it to be sure it works.  Also prepare her a CD with the driver  on it or go ahead and install it on her computer when you have fixed it. 

4. I thought you were going to check all the computers on Wed a.m.  Please, every Monday and Wed morning, turn them all on, check that the home page is stlwizkids.org and that the headphones are put away.  I need to know if you find the room in disarray and I will talk to the African exchange folks.

Printer and lab update

Scott Shaffer from Blade Technologies came to the lab on Monday to deal with the virus situation.  He said that Norton on the server is updated and running fine.  What we will have to do is be sure that Live Update runs on all client machines.

He set up a workaround to print to the HP LJ 4000 and was unable to identify the permission problem.  To set up the printer on all lab computers, please do the following:  1) Login as administrator 2) add the printer and give all users access (do not set it as the default printer) - install the HP 4000 PCL driver 3) Logoff 4) Login as tyfc 5) Add the printer again.  That should enable printing from the tyfc account to the HP LJ 4000.

Printer for Sherieff and Saladin

JB: Please find (in the tech room) a printer that we can take to S and S's new house. I prefer the Canon's so if you can find one of those, that would be best. They'll also need decent ink cartridges and a parallel cable. It's probably a good idea to bring the drivers on a CD since they may not have net access set up yet. I have their new phone number so let me know when you have it ready.

Check Spare

JB: Please check the spare that was returned from WordPro and make 100% certain that it is a fully functional spare including all the games that Tonya requires and full (black and white) printing capability.

Lab Printing

JB: Please keep working on enabling printing in the lab. The item below about printing was marked "Done", but the lab computers still cannot print so I have marked it "ToDo". Please call me if the printing problems are not solved by the end of the day Friday. ~Sue
